An individual who contaminated treats with sedative and provided them to minors at a summer camp in the region has pleaded guilty to sexual offences against two young males who were nine and 10.
The defendant was detained after eight children and one adult experienced illness at the location in the summer month.
The 76-year-old, from that region, confessed to a series of 17 offences when he stood at Leicester Crown Court on the end of the week.
However, he disputed one particular crime he was accused of, which was against a nine-year-old boy.
Ruben was held in detention ahead of a additional proceeding on November 28th.
'Candy game'
The prosecutor, prosecuting, outlined the defendant's actions to the judicial body.
She stated his those affected were children from difficult backgrounds who were attending a summer camp which he managed.
The defendant played a "sweet game" with the youngsters, the legal counsel explained, in which he would access the sleeping quarters when they were preparing to sleep and request they to consume candy "as fast as possible".
She informed the proceedings the man had played this game with the children "over an extended period", and children had earlier experienced illness the next day.
She stated the defendant had been capable of justifying this over a long period as the youngsters being "overstimulated by activities", until his stepchild had concerns in summer 2025.
The legal representative continued: "This year his stepchild had suspicions about what was going on, for good reason.
"They chose" to investigate in the man's possessions."
Mrs Prior KC explained materials including baby oil, petroleum jelly and syringes were located, and his stepchild notified the police about his concerns.
She said the man continued to play the "treat game" with six youngsters that evening - July 26th - and they were all sick the following morning.
"Law enforcement" had not gone out by that point," she stated further.
The police watchdog, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, previously told that it was reviewing Leicestershire Police's handling of the events.
The legal representative explained the minors were having difficulty walking due to their sickness, so the stepson notified the police again.
She stated the defendant then conducted the "sweet game" in a room of five children.
